Alaska Black Cod/Sablefish fisheries joined Alaska Salmon and Alaska Halibut and has become the third of Alaska's major commercial fisheries to be awarded the independent, third-party FAO-Based Responsible Management Certification.

Annual stock report shows steady progress toward rebuilding our nation's fisheries
The NOAA stated in its annual stock report that science-based management is crucial to rebuilding and maintaining sustainable stocks. Eric Schwaab, assistant NOAA administrator, said "We are making great progress ending overfishing and rebuilding stocks around the nation. We are turning a corner as we see important fish stocks rebounding"
